WOODLAND PARK, N.J. — Maxell has introduced a rechargeable lithium ion battery designed to operate in low temperatures, the company said.

With a discharge temperature range of -30 degrees to 60 degrees Celsius and 2300mAh capacity, the cell can operate in various products across various markets, including data capture, mobile computing, portable printing, communications, e-bikes, and gardening tools, Maxell said.

The new introduction follows the July launch of Maxell's zero-mercury, zero-lead silver oxide cell.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug made by Mylan for cancer patients.

PITTSBURGH — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a generic drug made by Mylan for cancer patients.

Mylan announced Monday the approval of dexrazoxane for injection, a generic version of Pharmacia & Upjohn's Zinecard. The drug is a chemoprotective agent, used to protect healthy tissue from cancer drugs.

Various versions of the drug had sales of $3.4 million during the 12-month period ended in September, according to IMS Health.

MORRISTOWN, N.J. — Actavis has launched an authorized generic drug for treating pain, the company said.

The drug maker announced Friday that it had started shipping morphine sulfate extended-release capsules, an authorized generic version of Kadian, which it also manufactures. The authorized generic product was launched on the same day as Watson Pharmaceuticals' generic version.

PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Watson Pharmaceuticals has launched its generic version of an opioid drug for treating pain, the company said Thursday.

Watson announced the Food and Drug Administration approval and launch of morphine sulfate extended-release capsules.

The drug is a generic version of Actavis' Kadian, which had sales of about $275 million during the 12-month period ended in September, according to IMS Health.

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug made by Endo Pharmaceuticals for high blood pressure.

CHADDS FORD, Pa. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a drug made by Endo Pharmaceuticals for high blood pressure.

Endo announced Wednesday the approval of felodipine extended-release tablets in the 2.5-mg, 5-mg and 10-mg strengths. Endo's generic drugs division, Qualitest Pharmaceuticals, will manufacture and distribute the product.

The drug is a generic version of AstraZeneca's Plendil extended-release tablets. Felodipine had sales of about $84 million during the 12-month period ended in June, according to IMS Health.

Innopharma said its abbreviated new drug application for olanzapine injection, a generic equivalent of Zyprexa injection. With this approval, Innopharma announced that it has entered an agreement with Sandoz, who will sell, market and distribute Innopharma's generic in the United States.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration for a drug designed to treat moderate to severe pain.

Mylan said its abbreviated new drug application for morphine sulfate extended-release tablets in the 15-mg, 30-mg, 60-mg, 100-mg and 200-mg strengths was approved by the FDA. The opioid analgesic is a generic version of Purdue Pharma's MS Contin. Mylan said it is launching the product immediately.

Morphine sulfate ER tablets had U.S. sales of approximately $173 million for the 12 months ended in June, according to IMS Health.

Men who took 400 international units of vitamin E daily had more prostate cancers compared with men who took a placebo, according to an updated review of data from the Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial, the NIH stated.
