ALLEGAN, Mich. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved an oral painkiller made by Perrigo, the drug maker said Wednesday.

Perrigo announced the approval of morphine sulfate oral solution in the 100-mL/5% strength. The drug is a Schedule II controlled substance and is used to treat moderate to severe acute and chronic pain. Sales of the drug are about $26 million per year, according to Wolters Kluwer Health. Perrigo said it would ship the drug immediately.

The recommended dietary allowance of vitamin C is less than half what it should be, according to the researchers, because medical experts insist on evaluating vitamin C in the same way they do pharmaceutical drugs and reach faulty conclusions as a result.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has launched a generic drug for treating thiamine deficiency, the company said Thursday.

The generic drug maker announced the launch of thiamine hydrochloride injection in the 100-mg-per-mL strength, packaged in 25-vial packs of 200-mg-per-2-mL multiple-dose vials.

The drug had sales of about $18.6 million during the 12-month period ended in March, according to IMS Health. Mylan said it would ship the drug immediately.
