MILPITAS, Calif. — A diabetes awareness campaign, sponsored by blood-glucose monitoring systems brand OneTouch, has tapped celebrity chef Sam Talbot to help educate and inspire Americans living with diabetes.

OneTouch said Talbot, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 12 years old, will participate in the Life First campaign by working alongside the brand to raise awareness of the importance of regular glucose testing in managing diabetes, as well as sharing strategies for success, particularly healthy eating.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Hy-Vee is the latest supermarket chain to bring a trained chef into the store to encourage customers to cook healthy food at home, according to published reports.

The Sioux Falls, S.D., Argus Leader reported Wednesday that a local Hy-Vee store had brought in chef Scott Teal to oversee food displays, demonstrate ways to prepare food and teach classes. It also gives the store a way to showcase new produce, such as brown-colored chocolate grape tomatoes.

PLEASANTON, Calif. — Safeway celebrated National Picnic Day on Saturday by breaking the Guinness World Record for longest picnic table and debuting its new private-label brand.

The record-setting picnic, held at the Marina Green in San Francisco, featured Safeway's Open Nature, a newly launched line of all-natural foods that includes meat and poultry, bread, yogurt, ice cream and salad dressing products, that were prepared by Food Network chef Tyler Florence. Safeway also succeeded at building a table exceeding 305 ft.

Wolfgang Puck's iced coffee is making its way to Fresh Market and Kroger stores.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. — Wolfgang Puck's iced coffee is making its way to Fresh Market and Kroger stores.

WPIC, an organic, kosher and 120-calorie beverage, will arrive in Fresh Market and Kroger banner stores this June. The brand, which was developed by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and Woodway Beverage Partners, initially launched in 2009.

WPIC is available in single-serve bottles and four packs, the companies said.

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Supermarket chain Hy-Vee has brought in Australian-born celebrity chef Curtis Stone to develop recipes designed to put the fun in cooking at home, the company said Friday.

Stone, the host of “Top Chef Masters” on Bravo and an investor and mentor on NBC’s “America’s Next Great Restaurant,” will be featured in the chain’s television commercials, print ads and in-store marketing materials for the next two years.

In addition to promoting a healthy lifestyle to Navarro's customers through in-store demonstrations and other outreach efforts, Pepin will assist with the promotion of the company's extensive line of household appliances -- currently available in stores and soon to be available online.
