The head of the American Pharmacists Association has been tapped as the chairman of the Pharmacy Quality Alliance, the PQA said Tuesday.

SPRINGFIELD, Va. — The head of the American Pharmacists Association has been tapped as the chairman of the Pharmacy Quality Alliance, the PQA said Tuesday.

The PQA announced the appointment of APhA EVP and CEO Thomas Menighan, who will succeed Judith Cahill, who has served on the organization's board since its 2006 inception, including a recently completed two-year stint as chairwoman.

Johnson & Johnson has announced that Alex Gorsky will assume, effective Dec. 28, the chairman title and additional leadership responsibilities for the global health care company.

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Johnson & Johnson has announced that Alex Gorsky will assume, effective Dec. 28, the chairman title and additional leadership responsibilities for the global health care company. 

Gorsky was appointed CEO of Johnson & Johnson in April 2012. Current chairman Bill Weldon will step down on Dec. 28 and plans to retire in the first quarter of 2013, after a brief transitional period.

Current Nestlé Waters North America president and CEO Kim Jeffery will step down from the role after 20 years, to assume a nonexecutive chairman position on Feb. 1, 2013, the company announced on Thursday. He will be succeeded by Tim Brown, current president and CEO of Nestlé Canada.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Current Nestlé Waters North America president and CEO Kim Jeffery will step down from the role after 20 years, to assume a nonexecutive chairman position on Feb. 1, 2013, the company announced on Thursday. He will be succeeded by Tim Brown, current president and CEO of Nestlé Canada.

Brown, 49, has served as president and CEO of Nestlé Canada since 2010, overseeing such global brands as Lean Cuisine, Kit Kat and Smarties. Previously, Brown spent 22 years at Nestlé Waters North America as EVP retail operations and general manager.

WASHINGTON — Jelly Belly president and COO Bob Simpson will take over the National Confectioners Association's executive board as chairman.

NCA's publication, Candy & Snack Today said Simpson replaces Mitchell Goetze as the chairman of the executive board. Blommer Chocolate Co. president Peter Blommer was appointed to serve as vice chairman, and Goetze, who is president and COO of Goetze's Candy Co., becomes ex-officio chairman.

On completion of the transaction, which is subject to various regulatory approvals, Alliance Boots will be the second largest shareholder in Nanjing Pharmaceutical with board and operational management representation.

The company said Sandra Peterson — who currently serves as chairman and CEO of Bayer CropScience AG, based in Europe — will have responsibility for the J&J consumer group of companies, information technology and global supply chain. She also will become a member of J&J's executive committee.

BOSTON —Yellow Wood Partners has acquired mass market fragrance provider Parfums de Coeur, whose brands include Body Fantasies, Designer Imposters and BOD Man.

Yellow Wood is acquiring PDC in partnership with the company’s management team, who also are investing equity into the business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
