MDLive announced Wednesday the appointment of Travis Stork, who is co-host of the Emmy award-winning daytime talk show "The Doctors."

Netherlands-based Ahold, the parent company of Ahold USA and U.S. supermarket banners Stop & Shop, Giant Food of Landover, Md., and Giant Food Stores of Carlisle, Pa., as well as the online grocer Peapod, said de Swaan would resign effective Sept. 30.

David Dillon, 62, a 37-year Kroger veteran who has been serving as CEO since 2003, will retire as CEO on Jan. 1, 2014, while continuing to serve as chairman — Dillon will serve as chairman through Dec. 31, 2014.

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. — Taro Pharmaceutical Industries has appointed Dilip Shanghvi as chairman, the Israeli generic drug maker said Thursday.

Taro said James Kedrowski would retire as interim CEO effective Aug. 1, to be replaced by Kalyanasundaram "Kal" Subramanian. Kedrowski will continue to serve as a member of the drug maker's board. Sundaram relinquished his position as chairman to comply with Israeli laws that prohibit a person from simultaneously holding the positions of chairman and CEO; he had served as chairman since April 2012.

The report cited two industry sources. However, Shoppers Drug Mart chairman Holger Kluge suggested that the chain has had more than a few suitors during an analyst call Monday.

A bill passed by the New York state legislature will require baby boomers visiting healthcare providers to be offered a hepatitis C screening.

ALBANY, N.Y. — A bill passed by the New York state legislature will require baby boomers visiting healthcare providers to be offered a hepatitis C screening.

The bill, S2750A/A1286, sponsored by Republican state Senate Health Committee chairman Kemp Hannon, was backed by AARP and requires those born between 1945 and 1965 to be offered a screening test. Many baby boomers across the state have hepatitis C without knowing it, and an estimated 200,000 New Yorkers are living with the disease, according to the organization.

Procter & Gamble has brought back former chief A.G. Lafley to serve as president and CEO, effective immediately. He has also been elected to the board and will serve as its chairman.

Lafley joined P&G in 1977 and served as president and CEO from 2000 to 2009. He succeeds Bob McDonald, who is retiring from the company on June 30, after 33 years of service.

NEW YORK — Forest Labs president and CEO Howard Solomon will retire at the end of 2013, the company said.

The drug maker announced that Solomon would still remain as chairman through the 2014 annual meeting, retaining the title of chairman emeritus after a replacement is elected. Solomon has served as CEO since 1977, chairman since 1998 and president since 2010.

An independent committee of the company's board of directors is looking within and outside the company for candidates to replace Solomon and plans to announce a successor before the end of the year.
