Healthcare company Cardinal Health is donating almost $1 million to university pharmacy programs across the country.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Healthcare company Cardinal Health is donating almost $1 million to university pharmacy programs across the country.

Cardinal, based in Dublin, Ohio, said the donations were part of the Cardinal Health Pharmacy Scholarship Program, which it launched in June 2011 and which has donated more than $2.1 million to 20 universities.

NEW YORK — Cardinal Health can continue distributing controlled medications from a distribution center in Florida, according to published reports.

On Friday, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit put a stay on the Drug Enforcement Administration's order that had blocked Cardinal from shipping controlled substances from the Lakeland, Fla., center. The stay will last until the middle of the month, when Cardinal has to file its emergency motion, and the DEA has to file its response, according to the reports.

STAMFORD, Conn. — Gartner on Monday released the findings from its third annual "Healthcare Supply Chain Top 25," ranking Cardinal Health No. 1. The top 25 ranking for 2011 identifies organizations using their supply chains to improve the patient care experience.
 
"Value chain leadership in a range of foundational and collaborative capabilities has allowed these organizations to make great strides in enabling high-quality patient care at optimal economic cost," stated Barry Blake, research analyst at Gartner.
