A recent audience-research study conducted by Nielsen found that among Cardinal Health's digital advertising network for retail pharmacies, called Pharmacy Health Network, half of viewers surveyed (49%) indicated that they felt encouraged to discuss a product or brand they had seen on Pharmacy Health Network with their pharmacist, and 48% indicated that after seeing ads on Pharmacy Health Network, they felt motivated to discuss those products or brands with their physicians.

McKesson confirmed that it has completed the previously announced agreement with Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH to acquire their entire holding of Celesio shares.

SAN FRANCISCO — McKesson on Thursday confirmed that it has completed the previously announced agreement with Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH to acquire their entire holding of Celesio shares. McKesson also confirmed it has completed the previously announced agreement with an affiliate of Elliott Management to acquire Celesio convertible bonds.  

McKesson now exceeds 75% ownership of Celesio shares on a fully diluted basis.

GmbH to acquire its entire holding of Celesio shares. And in a separate and subsequent agreement, McKesson also picked up the Celesio convertible bonds from Elliott.

Nothing good is ever easy. "While the path to securing this acquisition was certainly not what we had originally expected, it would seem that the interested parties to this transaction continued to see the compelling strategic benefit of McKesson and Celesio uniting to form a global leader in health care services," John Hammergren, McKesson chairman, CEO and president, said of the deal. "I never lost sight of the value this transaction will bring to our customers, our supply chain partners, the employees of both organizations and our shareholders."

Revenue totaled $22.2 billion. The loss of the Walgreens contract totaled $5 billion. 

But Cardinal Health is bullish regarding its future. Cardinal Health increased its outlook for the next six months, raising its non-GAAP EPS range to $3.75 to $3.85.

The game can be integrated into parents' and teachers' National Drug Facts Week efforts Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. NDFW is a health observance week for teens that aims to shatter the myths about drugs and drug abuse through community-based events and educational activities on the Web, on television and through contests.

A deal announced last month between CVS Caremark and Cardinal Health created a joint venture that the companies said would be the largest generic drug sourcing entity in the United States.

Each company will have a 50% stake in the joint venture, contributing its respective sourcing and supply chain expertise. The deal also included an extension of Cardinal Health’s existing pharmaceutical distribution agreement with CVS Caremark through June 2019.

CVS Caremark and Cardinal Health announced on Tuesday the signing of an agreement to form the largest generic sourcing entity in the United States.

DUBLIN, Ohio and WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark and Cardinal Health announced on Tuesday the signing of an agreement to form the largest generic sourcing entity in the United States.

Both companies are contributing their sourcing and supply chain expertise to this 50/50 joint venture and are committing to source generic drugs through it. The companies separately announced a three-year extension through June 2019 of Cardinal Health's existing pharmaceutical distribution agreements with CVS Caremark.

Cardinal Health Foundation recently awarded more than $350,000 in grant funding to 29 nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to the fight against prescription drug abuse, the organization announced Wednesday.

DUBLIN, Ohio — Cardinal Health Foundation recently awarded more than $350,000 in grant funding to 29 nonprofit organizations that are dedicated to the fight against prescription drug abuse, the organization announced Wednesday.

Grant recipients were selected from key communities where either a high concentration of Cardinal Health employees live and work, and/or where the community is particularly focused on addressing prescription drug misuse/abuse. Recipients have been awarded funding in amounts ranging from $5,000 to $15,000.

In addition to wholesaling, Celesio operates about 2,200 pharmacies across six countries and is the No. 2 operator in the United Kingdom.

Retail pharmacy and drug sourcing both are more and more becoming a global business. Just last week, the head of the second-biggest drug chain in Brazil announced he would be open to a buyout. So expect more of these headlines in the months to come.
