SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — The Yankee Candle Co. announced the launch of four summer-inspired fragrances, which feature notes of fruit and coconut. Consumers can choose from Margarita Time, Coconut and Vanilla Bean, Cinnamon Vanilla and Sea Coral.

The company also announced the limited-edition Fiesta Collection, which features three vivid colors and fruit fragrances. The collection is comprised of Pineapple and Red Berry Sangria, Caramelized Sugar and Coconut Lime.

The Exotic Escapes collection — now available at Yankee Candle stores, YankeeCandle.com and specialty retailers — seeks to take consumers away for a tropical excursion, the company said.

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. — The Yankee Candle Co. has introduced a new line of holiday-themed scented candles, the company said Monday.

The South Deerfield, Mass., announced the introduction of four new holiday-themed Yankee Candle fragrances and five Pure Radiance fragrances, also holiday-themed.

The company said the fragrances are designed to evoke nostalgia for baking holiday cookies and celebrating with loved ones. The candles are available at Yankee's more than 500 stores, as well as gift shops and other retailers.

Yankee announced the launch of the Thanksgiving Dinner Collection, which includes such fragrances as Turkey with Stuffing, Cranberry Sauce and Sweet Potato Pie. For each candle sold, $1 will be donated to the USO. The donations will take place between Sept. 30 and Oct. 31, and will support the USO's Holiday Box program for military personnel stationed overseas.

Yankee announced the launch of five new Yankee Candle fragrances and six new fragrances in its Pure Radiance line, with beach and exotic fruit scents to remind people of vacations in tropical places. Sprays and aerosols are most popular with consumers and have the most consistent use, followed by candles for burning, candles for decoration

Candles become a key general merchandise category later in the year — 35% of candle sales in the United States occur during the fourth quarter. Fall decorating, Thanksgiving and holiday gift-giving drive sales, according to a representative from the National Candle Association.

Holiday candle sales have been strong even in a tight economy, since they are a relatively inexpensive indulgence. Traditional cinnamon, berry and evergreen are key scents for the holidays; vanilla is most popular year-round.

A new line of mosquito-repelling candles is slated to make its nationwide debut.

BETHEL, Conn. — A new line of mosquito-repelling candles is slated to make its nationwide debut.

Bite-Lite said its candles feature a proprietary blend of essential oils that works by attacking the mosquito's sensors, which wards off the biting insects. Bite-Lite's candles will be available as luminaries, soy jars, soy tins and votives.

The company said that its new mosquito-repelling candle line will be presented at the National Hardware Show this week. Bite-Lite candles will be sold by retailers across the United States and on the Bite-Lite website.
