LOS ANGELES and NEW YORK — The Safeway Foundation and Stand Up To Cancer, a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation, have teamed up to develop a print, radio and digital public service announcement featuring actress and SU2C Ambassador Marcia Cross. The PSA is designed to increase awareness for the fight against prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer death for men in the United States, and currently affects more than two million American men. One-in-six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

More than 200 drugs for blood cancers are under development, according to a new report by a drug industry trade group.

WASHINGTON — More than 200 drugs for blood cancers are under development, according to a new report by a drug industry trade group.

The Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America said 241 medicines were in clinical development or under review by the Food and Drug Administration, including 98 for lymphoma, 97 for leukemia, 52 for multiple myeloma and 24 for malignancies of the bone marrow, blood and lymph nodes.

The FDA announced the approval of Pomalyst (pomalidomide) for patients whose disease has progressed after treatment with other cancer drugs.

The Undy 5000 5K Run/Walk, presented by Dulcolax, returned to Philadelphia for the fifth consecutive year to help raise funds for colon cancer research.

PHILADELPHIA — The Undy 5000 5K Run/Walk, presented by Dulcolax, returned here for the fifth consecutive year to help raise funds for colon cancer research. Almost 1,000 participants ran in their underwear as a tongue-in-cheek reference to the area affected by colon cancer, raising $120,000 for Colon Cancer community programs.

The Philadelphia Undy 5000 featured the Colon Cancer Alliance’s Inflatable Colon; a giant, walk-through colon that shows the various stages of colon cancer, including descriptions about Crohn’s disease and Colitis.

Yoplait has kicked off its annual Save Lids to Save Lives breast cancer awareness campaign.

MINNEAPOLIS — Yoplait has kicked off its annual Save Lids to Save Lives breast cancer awareness campaign.

The yogurt brand said that as part of its campaign, the company once again has tapped actress and breast cancer survivor Adamari Lopez to join Yoplait's Save Lids to Save Lives Tour. The tour is making its way across the United States, stopping in U.S. cities with large Hispanic populations. The tour kicked off Sept. 6 in Miami and ends Oct. 26 in Houston. She will also visit New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Phoenix, Yoplait said.
