The companies plan to launch a selection of Keurig-licensed Peet's coffee and tea varieties in K-Cup packs by the end of the summer. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Peet's will continue to roast the beans for its K-Cup packs at its LEED-certified facility in Alameda, Calif.; the roasted beans will be transported to Keurig for grinding and packaging.

Despite fears over safety, the energy drink, shot and mix category has beat back detractors to show consistent annual growth from 2008 to 2013 sales. The market reported a 17% increase in 2012 and is projected to repeat that growth rate in 2013.

Production and distribution activities will continue as usual at New England Coffee and no employee changes are expected.
