CVS Caremark has released the Caremark.com Droid application, which provides Android users with access to the Drug Information Database to learn about various prescription drugs and allows CVS Caremark plan members to log in and manage their prescriptions online.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has released the Caremark.com Droid application, which provides Android users with access to the Drug Information Database to learn about various prescription drugs and allows CVS Caremark plan members to log in and manage their prescriptions online.

The free app can be used with Android 2.1 OS and above phones. Caremark.com has had an iPhone application available since July 2010, and this new Android application further broadens CVS Caremark members' mobile access to their prescription information.

Private-label penetration at CVS/pharmacy locations is expected to grow to more than 20% in the next two to three years, and to help drive that growth, the retailer has developed its new Just the Basics line of store-brand products.

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, a national professional association of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Edith Rosato as CEO.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, a national professional association of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Edith Rosato as CEO.

Rosato will take over from long-time CEO Judith Cahill, who announced her plans to retire earlier this year.

In her new role as CEO, Rosato will be responsible for all program, financial and operational aspects of the academy, including a $10 million budget and staff of nearly 40. She will start her position in November.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic continues to expand its reach by opening two walk-in medical clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Savannah, Ga., market.

The clinics, located in Savannah and Richmond Hill, are the first retail medical clinics to open in the region and join 31 other MinuteClinic locations in Georgia situated throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The openings are part of MinuteClinic's goal to open 100 walk-in clinics nationwide this year.

What's more, the company also will salute its 50,000 pharmacy technicians later this month on Oct. 25, which is Pharmacy Technician Day.

CVS/pharmacy has teamed up with Aetna to offer Medicare beneficiaries a co-branded prescription drug plan.

HARTFORD, Conn. — CVS/pharmacy has teamed up with Aetna to offer Medicare beneficiaries a co-branded prescription drug plan.

The companies said the new Aetna CVS/pharmacy Prescription Drug Plan will be made available to beneficiaries in 43 states and Washington, D.C. The plan offers a $26 monthly plan premium and has no deductible for generic drugs. In addition, members will have the following benefits when they fill their prescriptions at a CVS/pharmacy (compared with a nonpreferred network pharmacy):
