CVS Caremark has released the Caremark.com Droid application, which provides Android users with access to the Drug Information Database to learn about various prescription drugs and allows CVS Caremark plan members to log in and manage their prescriptions online.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has released the Caremark.com Droid application, which provides Android users with access to the Drug Information Database to learn about various prescription drugs and allows CVS Caremark plan members to log in and manage their prescriptions online.

The free app can be used with Android 2.1 OS and above phones. Caremark.com has had an iPhone application available since July 2010, and this new Android application further broadens CVS Caremark members' mobile access to their prescription information.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Tuesday named Jeffrey Kang and Mike Ellis to its pharmacy, health and wellness division.

Kang will join Walgreens Oct. 31 as SVP health and wellness services and solutions, reporting to both president and CEO Greg Wasson and president of pharmacy, health and wellness Kermit Crawford.

In addition, Mike Ellis has joined Walgreens as VP specialty pharmacy and infusion, reporting to Crawford.

The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, a national professional association of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Edith Rosato as CEO.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, a national professional association of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners, on Wednesday announced the appointment of Edith Rosato as CEO.

Rosato will take over from long-time CEO Judith Cahill, who announced her plans to retire earlier this year.

In her new role as CEO, Rosato will be responsible for all program, financial and operational aspects of the academy, including a $10 million budget and staff of nearly 40. She will start her position in November.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — MinuteClinic continues to expand its reach by opening two walk-in medical clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Savannah, Ga., market.

The clinics, located in Savannah and Richmond Hill, are the first retail medical clinics to open in the region and join 31 other MinuteClinic locations in Georgia situated throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area.

The openings are part of MinuteClinic's goal to open 100 walk-in clinics nationwide this year.

TheraCom is a provider of commercialization support services to the biotech and pharmaceutical industry, specifically, providing reimbursement and patient access support services, and will join Lash Group as part of AmerisourceBergen Consulting Services.

NEW YORK — Longtime CVS/pharmacy executive Mike Bloom has resigned from the company and will serve as president and COO of Family Dollar Stores.

“Mike Bloom, EVP of merchandising and supply chain, has resigned from the company. We thank him for his many contributions to the success of our retail business over the past 19 years and wish him luck in his future endeavors,” stated Carolyn Castel, VP of corporate communications at CVS Caremark, in a statement sent to Drug Store News.
