WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Thursday kicked off a year-long celebration in honor of the association’s 40th anniversary. Created in 1973 by three companies and a single staffer, CRN is today recognized by many, both inside and outside the industry, as the leading trade association representing more than 100 dietary supplement manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and companies that supply services for the supplement industry.

Hathcock will serve as a part-time consultant for CRN moving forward, focusing on international issues and continuing his work in the area of risk assessment for nutrients.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Wednesday announced that former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs will be a featured speaker at The Conference, CRN’s annual symposium for the dietary supplement industry.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition and Virgo on Wednesday announced a continuation of their education webinar partnership, offering a minimum of two new webinars in 2011.

The first webinar will take place Sept. 14, with the topic to be announced in June. The second webinar will take place Nov. 8.

Additionally, a provisional date has been reserved for a potential third webinar Dec. 14, CRN stated.

This marks the fifth year that CRN and Virgo have partnered to produce webinars on topics of interest to the dietary supplement industry.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Monday named Taylor Wallace to the post of senior director, scientific and regulatory affairs.

“Dr. Wallace’s background will nicely complement that of our well-established scientific team, and we’re looking forward to the fresh perspective his background will provide,” CRN president and CEO Steve Mister said. “We were impressed with the amount of work he has published in his short career along with the relationships he has built within the scientific research community.”

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Wednesday released “Roadmap for Retailers: Safely Navigating What You Say About Dietary Supplements,” an educational tool to remind the supplement industry about its responsibilities with regard to the laws and regulations under which supplements are sold.

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Monday announced plans for a joint education effort with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Foundation to help raise the level of awareness within the supplement industry and with consumers about the valuable role of nurse practitioners in the quest for good health.
