COLUMBUS, Ohio — The developer of a retail app is partnering with marketing company Baesman Group to offer a location-based, geo-fencing mobile app that it said would drive in-store traffic by sending sales and promotional offers to consumers' smartphones.

After downloading the app, which has a built-in GPS system, users opt-in to retail brands and choose how often they would like to receive offers. Once near a store, the app will contact their smartphone with a discount or promotion designed specifically for them, which they can redeem immediately.

A federal district court has turned down a request by Cardinal Health for an injunction against the Drug Enforcement Administration's suspension of the company's license to ship painkiller drugs from one of its distribution centers, the company said Wednesday.

Reggie Walton, a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, ruled against Cardinal's request to enjoin the DEA from preventing the company from shipping controlled substances from the distribution center, in Lakeland, Fla.

The study also estimated that Ohio’s vaccination efforts saved the state $8.4 million in H1N1-related hospitalization costs.

Kroger is the latest retailer to join the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance as a partner.

CINCINNATI — Kroger is the latest retailer to join the Diabetes Prevention and Control Alliance as a partner.

The supermarket conglomerate will implement the DPCA's Diabetes Control Program, which is designed to help patients gain better control of their condition, at select store pharmacies, including stores in the Cincinnati, Columbus and Dayton, Ohio, markets. The retailer also will offer the program in Atlanta, Dallas, Houston and Las Vegas later this year.
