Supervalu on Thursday announced the appointment of Kathy Persian as SVP and chief information officer.

MINNEAPOLIS — Supervalu on Thursday announced the appointment of Kathy Persian as SVP and chief information officer. Persian, 45, joined the company in February 2010 in the role of group VP retail and merchandising systems, and later moved to group VP corporate planning, analysis and business process. 

Persian was named to the CIO post following the decision by Wayne Shurts to accept a position with another company, Supervalu reported. In her new role as chief information officer, Persian will lead all of the company’s information technology activities.

CVS Caremark has announced the appointment of Stephen Gold as CIO.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has announced the appointment of Stephen Gold as CIO. 

Gold, who joins CVS Caremark on July 9, will focus on bringing new and differentiating technology solutions to the company's retail and pharmacy benefit management businesses.

CVS Caremark has confirmed that Stuart McGuigan, SVP and CIO, will be leaving the company April 13.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark has confirmed that Stuart McGuigan, SVP and CIO, will be leaving the company April 13.

CVS Caremark has initiated a search for his replacement, according to a company spokesperson.

McGuigan has served as SVP and CIO since December 2008. Before that, McGuigan was SVP and CIO of Liberty Mutual Group from September 2004 to December 2008, and was deputy CIO and SVP of Liberty Mutual from February 2004 to September 2004. From 2000 to February 2004, he was SVP information technology at Medco Health Solutions.

Millennium Pharmacy Systems named John Tauber as its chief information officer.

CHICAGO — Millennium Pharmacy Systems named John Tauber as its chief information officer.

Tauber served as interim CIO since fall 2010, the company said. Prior to joining Millennium, he most recently served as CIO for MedImpact Healthcare Systems with responsibility for delivering IT services for the prescription benefits management company.

BOSTON The Little Clinic chief information officer Mat Waites was the recipient of Boston Software Systems' Fourth Annual User Excellence Award.

Waites was recognized for the use of Boston WorkStation to automate the registration process and enable patient registration kiosks to interface with the eClinicalWorks EMR. As a result, the clinic operator has been able to save the staff hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars, allowing for more focus on patient care.
