DSN sat down with Scott Melville, CHPA president and CEO, to discuss the Consumer Healthcare Products Association 2013 Annual Executive Conference and how the conference will focus on "consumer centricity," in this exclusive podcast. In addition, senior-level executives attending the sold-out conference will learn how CHPA is extolling that value on Capitol Hill. "OTCs are demonstrating their value everyday because consumers are purchasing them with their own dollars," Melville said. "The challenge has been for policy-makers to understand the value that OTC medicines bring." But that may change this year, Melville said, as CHPA continues to lobby around that OTC value quotient.

WHAT IT MEANS AND WHY IT’S IMPORTANT If there were just one word that captured the flavor of CHPA today, that word likely would be “collaborator.” Because under Linda Suydam’s tutelage, any issue addressed by CHPA never really felt like an “us” or “them,” but rather a confluence of issues and concerned stakeholders all flowing toward a singular, fair solution. With the naming of Scott Melville as CHPA’s next president, it seems the association may have a little more of the same to look forward to.
