EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — CCA Industries, whose portfolio includes Nutra Nail, Bikini Zone, Plus+White toothpaste and Scar zone scar treatment, posted a loss for the first quarter.

For the quarter ended Feb. 28, total revenues were  $7.75 million and it posted a net loss of $1.24 million. This compares with revenues of $11.80 million and the net loss $1.02 million in the year-ago period. Basic and fully diluted losses per share for the quarter were 18 cents compared a loss of 14 cents for the same quarter last year.

L’Oréal Paris has released first-quarter sales results, which were hampered, in part, by sluggish trends in North America’s mass-market channel during the first few months of the year.

PARIS — L’Oréal Paris has released first-quarter sales results, which were hampered, in part, by sluggish trends in North America’s mass-market channel during the first few months of the year.

Total group sales for the quarter were €5.64 billion, down 2.2% compared with the year-ago period. On a like-for-like basis, sales rose 3.5%.

The brand is already distributed in Australia, South Korea, Brazil and Chile.

CINCINNATI — Procter & Gamble has declared a commitment to no deforestation in its palm oil supply chain by improving practices with all its suppliers, including small local farmers, to ensure protection of forests, the company announced on Tuesday.

According to P&G, it uses very little actual palm oil in its products, but derivatives and by-products of palm oil are found in a variety of its beauty and household care products, such as detergents, shampoos, hand and body cleansers, bar soaps and color cosmetics.
