Manufacturers are striving to jazz up the bath and body segment with new, spa-inspired fragrances and formulations as sales show a ho-hum attitude among 
beauty shoppers. 


According to data provided by SymphonyIRI Group, sales of bath fragrances/bubble bath rose about 3% for the 12 weeks ended Aug. 12 at food, drug and mass (excluding Walmart). During that same period, sales of body scrubbers/massagers declined 5%, as sales of liquid body wash also dropped about 5%.

Experiencing triple-digit growth during the 12-week period ended Aug. 7, according to market research firm SymphonyIRI Group, is Dr. Teal’s. In June, the brand announced the introduction of its first foaming liquid epsom salt. CHASKA, Minn. — Mr. Bubble, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year, has announced the launch of two new products: Mr. Bubble Fizzy Bubble Bomb and the Mr. Bubble Foam Soap twin pack.

Shaped like the Mr. Bubble character, the original Bubble- or Bubbleberry-scent Bath Bombs add bubbles and color to bath water. They are available in pink and blue. The mixed shelf display holds 12 fizzy Bubble Bombs. They have a suggested retail price of $1.49 each.

BALTIMORE, Md. — Bath and beauty brand Calgon, which is managed by Ilex Consumer Products Group, has unveiled two new collections — Ageless Bath and Sensual collections — that will be available beginning in June.

CHASKA, Minn. — Mr. Bubble, which was acquired by The Village Co. in 2008, is broadening its portfolio with two new products for children: Mr. Bubble original bubble body wash and extra gentle body wash. Both formulas feature newly redesigned packaging, showcasing the new Mr. Bubble character.

The new body washes are made with aloe and shea butter to moisturize and are tear-free formulas. Both body washes are hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested and pediatrician-tested for a gentle clean. The extra gentle body wash is dye-free and fragrance-free for extra-sensitive skin.

EDISON, N.J. — DSE Healthcare Solutions on Sunday evening announced the launch of Safari Towels, a new product extending from its Anti Monkey Butt Powder brand, to its Facebook fan base of almost 39,000.
