SEATTLE — Regional chain Bartell Drugs will sponsor a food drive starting on Sunday, the company said.

The Seattle-based retailer said Friday that it would partner with Food Lifeline to sponsor the Bartell's Community Food Drive, which will last through June 1.

SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs is sponsoring "Health and Beauty" events this month at dozens of its stores, the regional retail pharmacy chain said.

Events will start Sunday and run for 13 days afterward, and will include blood-glucose testing, glucose-meter exchange and education, cholesterol testing, bone-density screenings, blood-pressure testing and others. In addition, there will be free "mini makeover" demonstrations and hair styling tips by Conair and product samplings ranging from cosmetics to supplements.

SEATTLE — Bartell Drugs is accepting donations of teddy bears for children in stressful and traumatic situations at its stores as part of a program set to last through the first of April, the regional chain said Monday.

Bartell's, which operates 58 stores in and around Seattle, said customers could buy an official "Bartell Bear" for $7 or donate a new or gently used teddy bear less than 12-in. size for the "Teddy Bear Patrol" campaign. The company is teaming up with local radio station Warm 106.9 FM for the effort.

Developed in conjunction with Hartman Group, the store includes a "Fresh Beauty" cosmetics section with natural and organic product lines; a "Wellness Courtyard" for supplements, vitamins and healthy beverages; a "Sweets & Snacks" section with new displays and lighting; and an "Urban Market" the showcases unique and locally produced products.
