NEW YORK — Target is beta testing a new app that allows users to save on items and share deals on Facebook.

A Bullseye View, Target's online magazine, announced the introduction of Cartwheel, where people can find offers on products by browsing the system or looking at friends' activites, and add up to 10 of their favorites to a list. Once a red check appears in the corner of the offer card, the item can be purchased, and customers can either print a special barcode from their desktop computers or use their mobile devices in-store to access it.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Pharmacy automation manufacturer Kirby Lester has launched a version of one of its tablet counters with streamlined verification software.

The company announced the launch of KL1Plus, which it said combines the KL1 tablet counter with the updated software. The device will be introduced at the National Community Pharmacists Association and Department of Defense Joint Forces Pharmacy Services annual convention in San Diego this month.

Rite Aid has become the latest chain to join the retail smartphone application game.

NEW YORK — Rite Aid has become the latest chain to join the retail smartphone application game.

The Camp Hill, Pa.-based retail pharmacy chain recently launched an app for smartphones that allows users to refill prescriptions by scanning their barcodes or entering the prescription number, transfer prescriptions, manage their Wellness+ loyalty card accounts, view weekly circulars and compile shopping lists, among other features.

The app is available for major smartphone brands including the Apple iPhone and Android phones.

The kiosks reportedly also will use facial recognition to determine a consumer's gender and will suggest dinner meal options.

AisleBuyer said that Alliance will sell its mobile self-checkout solution, which allows shoppers to scan a bar code, read product information and reviews, and complete the checkout process directly from a mobile device without having to wait in line.
