Dr. Fresh announces new foam toothpaste

Dr. Fresh has introduced a new toothpaste designed to be squirted directly into the mouth, the company said Wednesday.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Dr. Fresh has introduced a new toothpaste designed to be squirted directly into the mouth, the company said Wednesday.

The company said Firefly Fluoride Foam Toothpaste — along with the new FireFly Ready Go Brush — is designed to take the drudgery and mess out of brushing. The light, foamy formula flushes out bacteria and gets hard-to-reach spots, which the company said would appeal to children who wear braces.

Dr. Fresh acquires Reach brand manual toothbrushes

Dr. Fresh, a designer and marketer of oral care products, has acquired the Reach brand of manual toothbrushes from the Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNeil-PPC.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Dr. Fresh, a designer and marketer of oral care products, has acquired the Reach brand of manual toothbrushes from the Johnson & Johnson Healthcare Products Division of McNeil-PPC. 

The sale includes rights in the United States, its territories, the Caribbean and Canada. The acquisition does not include Reach-brand floss or other interdental products. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The battery-powered toothbrush incorporates Dr. Fresh's signature FireFly light-up timer — a colorful light that, when activated with the touch of a button, blinks for two minutes to keep children entertained and brushing for the appropriate length of time. In addition, its dual-action rotary vibrations are designed to remove more plaque than a manual toothbrush.

Dr. Fresh supports Smile Train

Dr. Fresh, the maker of the FireFly light-up timer toothbrush, has kicked off a Facebook fundraising initiative to raise awareness and funds for the cleft lip and palate charity Smile Train.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Dr. Fresh, the maker of the FireFly light-up timer toothbrush, has kicked off a Facebook fundraising initiative to raise awareness and funds for the cleft lip and palate charity Smile Train.

As of April 12, the company is donating $1 for every new "like" on FireFly's Facebook page, up to $2,500, to Smile Train. Smile Train provides surgery for children in developing countries suffering from cleft lip and/or palates, a common birth defect, as well as specialized training for medical professionals to make surgery more accessible.

Dr. Fresh's FireFly children's toothbrush and its licensed counterparts have earned the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Dr. Fresh's FireFly children's toothbrush and its licensed counterparts have earned the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance.

The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs' acceptance of FireFly is based on its findings that the product is effective for removing plaque and helping to prevent and reduce gingivitis when used as directed.
