The company said the lineup includes:

  • Altrient C, a full-potency vitamin C formula (which touts 1,000 mg of vitamin C in each packet);

  • Altrient ME, which combines B vitamins, essential trace minerals and cinnamon extract to boost energy and reduce the harmful byproducts of cell metabolism (and contains 313.5 mg of the "metabolic enhancement" formula in each packet); and

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition on Tuesday issued sharp criticism in response to the study, "Dietary Supplements and Mortality Rate in Older Women," published in the Archives of Internal Medicine, a publication of the American Medical Association.

The study listed a broad range of supplements — multivitamins, folic acid, iron and copper, among others — that appear to be associated with an increased risk of death in older women. The article is part of the journal’s "Less Is More" series.

People taking oral steroids are twice as likely as the general population to have severe vitamin D deficiency, according to a study of more than 31,000 children and adults by scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University released last week.

NEW YORK — People taking oral steroids are twice as likely as the general population to have severe vitamin D deficiency, according to a study of more than 31,000 children and adults by scientists at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University released last week.

Their findings, published in the Sept. 28 online edition of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, suggested that physicians should more diligently monitor vitamin D levels in patients being treated with oral steroids.

Of those who take vitamins, more than 70% of respondents said they feel more confident about their health when they are taking a vitamin. Multivitamins are the most popular supplements, with 75% of respondents taking a multivitamin regularly.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — MB Innovations on Monday launched a new weight loss supplement called Slimple. 

Slimple contains MaCoca, a proprietary blend derived from a de-cocainized coca leaf. 

The extract is processed using a method that carefully removes the alkaloids while retaining all of the active ingredients, enabling it to be legally used as a food additive, the company stated. According to MB Innovations, the coca leaf contains flavonoids, triterpenoids, vitamin C, amino acids, carotenoids, vitamin B complex and essential oils.

Profits were $17.5 million for the quarter and $92.7 million for the year, compared with $10.7 million in fourth quarter 2009 and $76.9 million for 2009 as a whole.

“Forgiven is the first and only alcohol burner available to the consumer seeking a healthy solution to sober quickly when the night is over,” stated Chas Aday, CEO of Forgiven Bottling Group.

One packet of Forgiven will retail for a suggested $3.99, the company reported.

New Stride Spark gum contains vitamins B6 and B12, and will be available in two new flavors: Kinetic Mint and Kinetic Fruit. Each piece of Stride Spark contains 25% of the recommended daily value of the B vitamins, according to Stride.
