The software vendors include Adaptamed, AssistRx, Bizmatics, ChartLogic, HealthFusion, Merge Healthcare, SuccessEHS and others.

ARLINGTON, Va. — The head of the country's largest e-prescribing network is stepping down, the company said Thursday.

Surescripts announced that president and CEO Harry Totonis would leave the company in March. Totonis began with the company following its 2008 merger with RxHub.

Surescripts' board of directors is retaining an executive search firm to find a successor, and a spokeswoman for the company told DSN that it was actively looking for a replacement with Totonis' help, and did not have plans to appoint an interim CEO at this time.

DENVER — A new mobile app-driven social network devoted to medical marijuana has attracted $150,000 in seed money from an investment group.

MassRoots announced Thursday that it had closed the seed investment from members of the ArcView Group. The social network, launched in July 2013, has more than 25,000 active users. MassRoots allows users to maintain their privacy and anonymity by not requiring their name, email or phone number to join.

MONROVIA, Calif. — Regulators in Canada have given a maker of health kiosks the green light to start marketing its products there.

Stayhealthy said Health Canada's Medical Devices Bureau had granted it a license to sell its HealthCenter Kiosk, models 650 and 650-C. The kiosks measure blood pressure, heart rate, total body weight, body-mass index, total body composition and vision and can incorporate data on blood glucose.

ATLANTA — Health kiosks made by SoloHealth are being used about 40 million times per year, the company said Friday.

The kiosk maker said its SoloHealth Stations around the country had an average of 10 million users per quarter, or almost 130,000 per day, with Texas, Florida, California, Georgia and North Carolina leading other states. The numbers were based on "consumer engagements," which refers to a consumer taking at least one test per session. There are currently at least 3,500 of the kiosks in the market.

PharmaSmart will install its blood pressure and pulse kiosks in the stores, and patients will be able to access their Blood Pressure Tracker personal health records at Sav-Mor's and Sav-On's websites.

ARMONK, N.Y. — The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy is switching from a MacOS-based platform to an IBM system running Linux to manage growth of big data.

IBM said Wednesday that the Tucson, Ariz., college was using an IBM zEnterprise mainframe running the IBM DB2 database software on Linux to analyze and process 3 million medical claims per week. A business partner of IBM, Sirius Computer Solutions, helped the college move to the new system, which reduces the time it takes to process medical claims by 60%.

LOS ANGELES — Albertsons has placed an order for what is being called the "first true food bar" for dogs.

All American Pet Co. said Friday it received an order from the grocer for NutraBars, which are designed to be high in protein and low in fat, and are made in the United States.

The company said it also was expecting an order for Chewies Dog Treats, which are all-natural and made with peanuts, cheese and bacon. Albertsons, based in Boise, Idaho, operates 1,119 stores under 12 banners in 29 states.

Fairview Pharmacy Services, which runs about 30 retail pharmacies across the state and also specialty, compounding and mail-order facilities, said the new app would allow customers to scan and refill prescriptions, receive pickup and dosage reminders and locate stores and specials.
