NANUET, N.Y. — Allermates today announced it is introducing EpiPen, Auvi-Q and asthma inhaler carrying cases.

The cases come in colorful kid-friendly designs and include AllerMates characters. Each case comes with an emergency contact and medication information card. The EpiPen carrying case is insulated, and comes with an epinephrine auto-injector user guide. The cases, like all AllerMates products, are nickel-, lead-, latex-, BPA- and phthalate-free.

A division of drug maker Mylan has distributed auto-injectors of an emergency drug used for severe allergic reactions to schools nationwide.

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — A division of drug maker Mylan has distributed autoinjectors of an emergency drug used for severe allergic reactions to schools nationwide.

Mylan Specialty said Wednesday that since its August 2012 launch of the EpiPen4Schools program, thousands of schools around the country had elected to participate and receive free EpiPen and EpiPen Jr (epinephrine) auto-injectors. The program was launched to help schools have improved access to epinephrine in the event that a person experiences a life-threatening allergic reaction, also known as anaphylaxis.

NEW YORK — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new means of administration for a multiple sclerosis drug, the manufacturers said.

Pfizer and EMD Serono announced the approval of Rebif Rebidose (interferon beta-1a), a single-use auto-injector for self-administering Rebif, used to treat relapsing forms of MS. EMD Serono is the U.S. division of German drug maker Merck KGaA, so-named to avoid confusion with U.S.-based Merck & Co.

BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — Drug maker Mylan will pass out free EpiPen injectors to children in schools, the company said Tuesday.

Mylan Specialty, the Mylan unit that makes the EpiPen (epinephrine), announced the launch of the EpiPen4Schools program. The program offers four free EpiPen or EpiPen Jr. injectors to public and private school students in kindergarten, elementary, middle and high school, who have valid prescriptions.

PARIS — The Food and Drug Administration has approved a voice-guided injection device made by Sanofi for severe allergic reactions, the drug maker said Monday.

The French drug maker announced the approval of Auvi-Q (epinephrine), calling it the first epinephrine auto-injector with audio and visual cues that guides users through the injection process. Sanofi US licensed the North American commercialization rights to Auvi-Q from Intelliject, which has retained commercialization rights for the rest of the world.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — US WorldMeds has announced a new treatment for migraines, the drug maker said Wednesday.

The company announced the launch of Alsuma auto-injector (sumatriptan), which injects the drug sumatriptan under the skin via a single-use, prefilled auto injector. The company is selling the drug under a licensing agreement from King Pharmaceuticals.
