“We predict that the food-at-home index will decline for the month of July [however],” ECRM stated in a release Friday.

Bayer on Friday announced that it is providing monetary support for disaster relief efforts through a $25,000 donation from the Bayer USA Foundation to the American Red Cross of southwestern Indiana.

PITTSBURGH — Bayer on Friday announced that it is providing monetary support for disaster relief efforts through a $25,000 donation from the Bayer USA Foundation to the American Red Cross of southwestern Indiana. The state of Indiana was among several states affected by tornadoes on March 2, which caused extensive damage to rural communities such as Henryville, Clarksville and Newburgh.

In the wake of tornadoes that hit communities in Kentucky on Friday, retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid has donated to a local Red Cross chapter to assist victims.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — In the wake of tornadoes that hit communities in Kentucky on Friday, retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid has donated to a local Red Cross chapter to assist victims.

The company said Sunday that the Rite Aid Foundation, its philanthropic arm, had donated $15,000 to the Bluegrass chapter of the American Red Cross. The foundation also will provide supplies and items to assist with disaster relief efforts. Eli Lilly Foundation also pledged to donate $100,000 to the Red Cross.

Walgreens has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to aid those affected by the storms and tornadoes that recently hit the Southeast.

DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross to aid those affected by the storms and tornadoes that recently hit the Southeast.

The drug store chain also is providing nonperishable food, medical supplies and water directly to local shelters and first responders in Alabama and Georgia. Additionally, cleaning supplies and three truckloads of water also have been donated.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — The philanthropic arm of retail pharmacy chain Rite Aid is donating $100,000 in money and supplies to victims of tornadoes in Alabama and Tennessee, the company said Friday.

The Rite Aid Foundation said it would donate $50,000 to the Red Cross and also would donate $50,000 worth of water, snacks, batteries, flashlights, first-aid products, diapers, baby formula and cleaning supplies.

Publix announced that it has kicked off a donation program that offers customers and associates the opportunity to directly assist those in the South affected by recent tornadoes and severe weather.

LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix announced that it has kicked off a donation program that offers customers and associates the opportunity to directly assist those in the South affected by recent tornadoes and severe weather.

Customers will be able to donate funds by adding them to their grocery totals at Publix registers. The funds will be channeled through the American Red Cross.

In a separate donation, Publix Super Markets Charities is contributing $100,000 to the American Red Cross for relief efforts for the areas affected by the tornadoes.

BOSTON Diabetes could partially be related to air pollution, according to a new study.

 

The study, conducted by researchers at Children’s Hospital Boston and published in this month’s issue of the journal Diabetes Care, found that diabetes in adults was consistently correlated with particulate air pollution even after adjusting for known risk factors, such as obesity and ethnicity.
