CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has opened three walk-in clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Asheville, N.C. area, and three additional locations are expected to open by year-end.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark’s MinuteClinic has opened three walk-in clinics inside CVS/pharmacy stores in the Asheville, N.C. area, and three additional locations are expected to open by year-end.

The new clinics are located in Arden, Asheville and Hendersonville. Three additional clinics are expected to open by the end of the year in Asheville, Brevard and Waynesville.

Calling its 2012 Customer Conference a "success," QS/1 said its next conference would take place in Asheville, N.C., in May 2013 rather than July 2013.

NEW YORK A near doubling in the diabetes population and near tripling in costs of treating the disease threatens to create a huge drag on the healthcare system and the economy as a whole, but retail pharmacies have the opportunity to help bring some of those costs down.

A study commissioned by Danish drug maker Novo Nordisk forecasts that by 2034, the American diabetes population will be 44.1 million, while spending on the disease will total $336 billion.
