MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — The retirement of Katz Group Canada CEO Andy Giancamilli come February will mark the rise of pharmacy veteran Frank Scorpiniti, who will take the helm of the Canadian retailer.


Scorpiniti joined Katz Group Canada in April 2011 as COO. Long regarded as one of the bright young executives in retail pharmacy, Scorpiniti now will get a chance to lead a progressive Canadian pharmacy chain, with a hot new Rexall Healthy Living concept, a national presence under Rexall and a slew of innovative programs like the employer-based Rexall Network program.

EDMONTON, Alberta — Katz Group Canada on Monday announced the planned retirement Oct. 31 of Warren Jeffery, chief development officer and interim chief merchandising officer.

“We thank Warren for his contributions and his leadership,” stated Andy Giancamilli, CEO of Katz Group Canada. “Warren has been at the helm of key organizational initiatives that have driven innovation in pharmacy care and improved medication compliance and has set a solid foundation for future organizational growth. We wish him all the best in his retirement.”

Katz Group Canada, Canada’s largest integrated pharmacy network with more than 1,800 chain, franchise and independent pharmacies, has announced the retirement of industry veteran Andy Giancamilli as CEO, effective Feb. 2, 2012.

TORONTO — Katz Group Canada, Canada’s largest integrated pharmacy network with more than 1,800 chain, franchise and independent pharmacies, has announced the retirement of industry veteran Andy Giancamilli as CEO, effective Feb. 2, 2012.

Giancamilli, who will serve in an advisory role until May 2012 following his retirement in February, will be succeeded by Frank Scorpiniti, who joined the company in April as COO.

“Our goal here is to improve health care for Canadians,” Katz Group Canada CEO Andy Giancamilli told Drug Store News about the company’s new Rexall Healthy Living Pharmacy concept it opened in six of its stores across Canada in 2010. The concept, which borrows some of the design innovation and cache usually associated with the beauty category to better engage customers around health and wellness, includes more than 200 health information touch points.

With more than 20 years of retail pharmacy experience, Scorpiniti previously was SVP pharmacy operations at Duane Reade. Prior to Duane Reade, he held positions of increasing responsibility at Longs Drug Stores.

The stores offer “more than 200 health information touch points, new team members, new tools and services, and one of the broadest assortments of [dermatologic] brands in the Canadian market,” according to Katz Group.
