Rite Aid's philanthropic arm will donate water for areas of West Virginia affected by a recent chemical spill, the retail pharmacy chain said Saturday.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Rite Aid's philanthropic arm will donate water for areas of West Virginia affected by a recent chemical spill, the retail pharmacy chain said Saturday.

The Rite Aid Foundation announced the donation of 15,000 cases of water to the American Red Cross West Virginia Region to assist communities around Charleston, W.Va., currently under a water ban resulting from a chemical spill that contaminated the area's water supply, affecting about 300,000 people in a nine-county area.

MINNEAPOLIS — Target Corp. has donated $50,000 to assist in relief efforts in the Midwest following a devastating tornado outbreak there earlier this month.

The mass-merchandise retailer's donation includes $45,000 in cash to the American Red Cross and $5,000 to non-profit organizations for relief efforts in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Missouri. In addition, all Target stores in affected areas will remain open.

In response to recent tornadoes and inclement weather across the Midwest, Dollar General on Monday announced it is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts and will also collect monetary donations at its more than 11,000 retail locations to further provide aid.

Walgreens has donated $100,000 to the American Red Cross in response to the devastating Typhoon Haiyan, also known as Typhoon Yolanda, that swept through the Philippines last week.

According to media reports, about half a dozen people are confirmed dead and 200 are unaccounted for amid floods caused by what the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration called once-in-a-millennium rainfall. Property losses are estimated at nearly $2 billion.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — The CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, a private foundation created by CVS Caremark, has announced a donation of more than $10,000 in support of families and communities that have been affected by the flash floods in Larimer and Boulder counties in north-central Colorado. 

Since last week, areas of Colorado have been affected by heavy rains, which have displaced thousands of residents, destroyed nearly 20,000 homes and washed out roads, highways, bridges and communications lines.

In addition, the Charitable Trust will match tornado relief donations to the Red Cross from CVS Caremark's employees up to an additional $25,000, resulting in a potential combined donation from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust and CVS Caremark colleagues of at least $75,000.

The Rite Aid Foundation has announced that it is making a donation of food items valued at $15,000 to the 1199SEIU Child Care Corp.

CAMP HILL, Pa. — The Rite Aid Foundation has announced that it is making a donation of food items valued at $15,000 to the 1199SEIU Child Care Corp.

Items including pasta, soup, sauces, instant coffee, tea and other non-perishable food items will be delivered to the union’s warehouse in North Bergen, N.J., where they will then be distributed to member families affected by Hurricane Sandy. Rite Aid and 1199SEIU officials will receive the delivery at the warehouse on Dec. 28.

Bayer on Friday announced that it is providing monetary support for disaster relief efforts through donations totaling $150,000 from the Bayer USA Foundation.

PITTSBURGH — Bayer on Friday announced that it is providing monetary support for disaster relief efforts through donations totaling $150,000 from the Bayer USA Foundation. 

The American Red Cross and Save the Children will each receive $75,000.
