WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association has released the latest edition of a publication for pharmacists who provide medication therapy management services, the professional group said Monday.

WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association announced that nominations are being accepted for its practitioner awards and honors, which are administered by the APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management.

APhA said that the awards, which will be presented at the APhA annual meeting and exposition in Los Angeles in March 2013, include the new APhA-APPM Pharmacy Management Excellence award and three new APhA-APPM Distinguished Achievement awards. Nominees are being sought for the following awards and honors:

RICHMOND, Va. — A Giant-Carlisle pharmacist has won recognition from the country's largest pharmacist organization for his immunizations. Dennis Stanley, a pharmacist at Martin's Food Market — a banner under Ahold's Giant-Carlisle chain — won the American Pharmacists Association's 2012 APhA Immunization Champion Lifetime Achievement Award.

WASHINGTON — Joseph Williams, the former CEO of Warner-Lambert, was named the recipient of the American Pharmacists Association Foundation's 2012 Jacob W. Miller Award, the APhA Foundation said.

The organization said it recognized Williams for his leadership and service to the APhA Foundation capital campaign and advisory committee. Williams also served as APhA honorary president from 2004 to 2005.

WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association is marking American Pharmacists Month by pushing people to work with their pharmacists to combat and control diabetes.

The APhA is promoting services that pharmacists can provide, such as medication therapy management, counseling on physical activity and nutrition, blood-glucose monitoring and guidance on healthy behavior and health maintenance.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — As part of the launch of the Department of Health and Human Services' Million Hearts campaign on Tuesday, HHS identified several key association partners, including the National Community Pharmacist Association and the American Pharmacists Association.

WASHINGTON — The American Pharmacists Association is seeking nominations for its annual practitioner and scientific awards and honors, the organization said Wednesday.

The APhA said it would present the winners at the annual APhA Annual Meeting and Exposition in New Orleans next March. The APhA Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management administers the practitioner awards and honors, while the APhA Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science administers the scientific awards and honors. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 15.

SEATTLE — The American Pharmacists Association has teamed up with the Cardinal Health Foundation to fight against prescription drug abuse through several initiatives.

With funding support from the Cardinal Health Foundation, APhA members will take an active role in preventing the abuse and misuse of prescription medications, including the following initiatives:
