Effective Jan. 1, 2013, Coca-Cola will organize around three major operating businesses: Coca-Cola International — which will consist of the company's Europe, Pacific and Eurasia and Africa operations; Coca-Cola Americas — which will consist of the company's North America and Latin America operations; and the Bottling Investments Group, which oversees the Coca-Cola-owned bottling operations outside of North America.

LONDON — PZ Cussons, a consumer products group in Europe, Asia and Africa, is expanding its beauty division with the acquisition of the Fudge hair care brand from Australia-based Sabre Group.

The brand and associated inventory are being acquired by PZ Cussons for 25.5 million pounds ($39.5 million). The transaction is expected to close by the end of January, following the satisfaction of certain regulatory obligations.

Generic drug maker Actavis is donating 2 million euros worth of medicines to Libya, the company said.

ZEJTUN, Malta — Generic drug maker Actavis is donating 2 million euros worth of medicines to Libya, the company said.

Actavis announced the shipment of 170 pallets of medicines from Malta to the Libyan capital of Tripoli. The goods left Malta on Sunday and are scheduled to arrive in Tripoli this week. The products include cardiology, anti-infective, pain management and gastrointestinal drugs, among others.

NEW YORK — Taking drugs for treating HIV might reduce the risk of infection among heterosexual couples, according to two new studies conducted in Africa.

One study, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and conducted among 4,758 couples in Kenya and Uganda, found that when taken daily, Gilead’s Viread (tenofovir) reduced the rates of infection by at least 62% compared with placebo. Truvada (tenofovir and emtricitabine), another drug made by Gilead, reduced infection risk by 73%.
