The line, comprised of Cetaphil DermaControl foam wash and DermaControl moisturizer SPF 30, is positioned as the first skin care line of its kind designed to complement an acne regimen for sensitive, acne-prone skin.

PITTSBURGH — Mylan has completed its acquisition of two skin drugs from Valeant Pharmaceuticals, the generic drug maker said Monday.

Mylan announced that it had acquired the regulatory approval applications for generic clindamycin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide gel, a generic version of Valeant's BenzaClin, and a license to manufacture and market fluorouracil cream in the 5% strength, a version of Valeant's Efudex.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — GlaxoSmithKline company Stiefel announced it is seeking approval for a facial acne treatment in patients ages 12 years and older.

Stiefel said it has submitted a new drug application to the Food and Drug Administration for tazarotene foam. Tazarotene foam is subject to evaluation and approval by the regulatory authorities before it can be made available to physicians for prescribing to their appropriate patients, Stiefel said.

BERLIN — A new study conducted by Bayer HealthCare suggests that an investigational treatment for acne may be suitable for patients with dark complexions whose acne includes a condition that causes irregular discoloration of the skin known as postinflammatory hyperpigmentation, or PIH.
