ST. LOUIS — On May 6, Budweiser will introduce a new bowtie-shaped aluminum can to hit store shelves.

The new can design is modeled after the company's bowtie label that backs the brand's signature on the sides of cans, bottles and other Budweiser merchandise first introduced in 1956 with a national advertising campaign. The new cans will not replace the traditional Budweiser can.

ST. LOUIS — Budweiser will introduce the latest addition to its line of beers later this month, the company said Tuesday.

The brewing company announced plans to unveil Budweiser Black Crown on Jan. 21, based on 12 recipes, six beers brewed for national sampling and 25,000 opinions from the company's "Project 12" competition. The company plans to broadcast the first 30-second television advertisement during Super Bowl XLVII on Feb. 3.

The new can and secondary packaging that shows off Budweiser's iconic bowtie, complemented by the Budweiser creed and Anheuser-Busch medallion. This marks the 12th can redesign since 1936.

NEW YORK Anheuser-Busch reportedly is revitalizing its Budweiser brand by offering free beer with a "Budweiser National Happy Hour" on Sept. 29.

Targeting trendy bars and eateries, the brewer will offer free 6-oz. to 12-oz. samples for those ages 21 years and older. The event is part of Anheuser-Busch's new campaign, "Grab Some Buds." Its goal is to increase brand loyalty for Budweiser, which has ignored the under-30 demographic that it should be targeting, according to published reports.
