Taro to close Ireland plant
HAWTHORNE, N.Y. Taro Pharmaceutical Industries will shut down manufacturing at its factory in Ireland, the Israeli generic drug maker announced.
Taro said it would discontinue manufacturing operations at the sterile facility in Roscrea, Ireland, operated by Taro Pharmaceuticals Ireland, by the end of March. Taro Ireland will keep the plant in “good condition,” the company said.
Taro said it was no longer in the company’s interest to continue manufacturing at the plant, which had been incurring losses, and that it would cost too much to bring it up to the level of efficiency at its other plants. The discontinuation of manufacturing will affect around 30 employees, the company said.
