ABC annual tradeshow to feature education for front-end support staff, including techs
VALLEY FORGE, Pa. — AmerisourceBergen on Monday announced that its national network of Good Neighbor Pharmacy owners and more than 250 exhibitors from across the pharmaceutical supply chain will be on hand July 24 to 27 in Las Vegas for ThoughtSpot 2013.
“Our commitment to independent community pharmacy is stronger than ever,” stated A.J. Caffentzis, SVP sales and marketing, AmerisourceBergen. “ThoughtSpot provides an opportunity for our pharmacy customers to network and learn about new tools and services that can help them increase their revenue and better serve their patients. With all that is currently facing our customers — shrinking reimbursements, increasing competition and uncertainty with healthcare reform — such opportunities are more important than ever before.”
New this year, pharmacy technicians and front-end staff are invited to attend a full-day professional development course designed to increase their knowledge and skills. This course is specifically designed for pharmacy support staff to provide them with an opportunity to grow in their role while showing them how they can impact a pharmacy’s profitability.
During the general session, Amerisource president and CEO Steve Collis will provide his insights on where the pharmacy industry is headed, identify how independent pharmacies can continue to play an increasing role in promoting community health and underscore the wholesaler's commitment to independent community pharmacy.
More than 30 educational sessions will be offered on a variety of topics, including classes on specialty pharmacy, medication adherence and pharmacy-based immunizations.
On the tradeshow floor, customers will have the opportunity to demonstrate pharmacy operation services from AmerisourceBergen Technology Group and speak with customers who are successfully using the technology to improve business operations.
In addition to educational and networking opportunities, special guest entertainer Bret Michaels, frontman for the rock band Poison, will take the stage this year. As someone who has been living with diabetes since childhood, Michaels brings personal experience and an appreciation for independent community pharmacies and what they do for patients every day. He also donates his time and money to diabetes education and cancer awareness through the Bret Michaels Life Rocks Foundation.
